Air India and Vistara’s Merger Finalized; Singapore Airlines Now Holds Key 25.1% Stake
With operations now fully integrated under Air India, Singapore Airlines now has a 25.1% interest in the newly united airline as a result of the Vistara-Air India merger.
As it gets ready to completely merge with Air India, Vistara will run its last flight under its own name on Monday, November 11. Vistara’s operations will merge with Air India on November 12th, forming a single, integrated airline under the Air India name.
The Air India-Vistara merger will be streamlined into a single full-service carrier operating under the Air India brand thanks to the government’s approval of Singapore Airlines’ foreign direct investment.
Air India, which is also owned by the Tata Group, has completely merged with Vistara, a joint venture between the two airlines. The two carriers are combined under one roof as a result of this merger.
The airlines had declared that, starting on September 3, 2024, passengers would no longer be able to book flights with Vistara for departures on or after November 12, 2024.
Following the completion of the November 2022 announcement of Vistara’s merger with Air India, Singapore Airlines will own 25.1% of the combined airline.
According to Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan, the merger with Air India intends to improve the whole travel experience while giving consumers more options by growing the fleet and network.
