Trump Calls China Parade ‘Beautiful’, Says It Was to Grab His Attention After Accusing Xi, Putin, Kim of Conspiracy.
Just hours after accusing China, Russia, and North Korea of “conspiring against the United States,” President Donald Trump dramatically reversed course on Wednesday, describing his relationship with all three countries as “very good.” The surprising remarks came as Trump reacted to a high-profile military parade in Beijing, which he claimed was orchestrated to get his attention — a gesture he said he acknowledged.
From Accusation to Admiration
Earlier in the day, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to raise concerns about what he called a growing alliance between Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un as you conspire against the United States of America,” Trump posted, in what many took as a sharply worded accusation.
But just hours later, during a bilateral meeting in the Oval Office, Trump offered a far more conciliatory tone. He praised the Chinese military parade — where Xi, Putin, and Kim were seen standing together — as a “beautiful ceremony” and acknowledged that he watched it closely.
“When they did what they did, I thought it was a beautiful ceremony; it was very impressive,” Trump told reporters. “But I understood the reason they were doing it: they were hoping I was watching — and I was watching.”
“Very Good” Relationships
Despite the earlier rhetoric, Trump emphasized that his personal relationships with all three leaders remain strong.
“My relationship with all of them is very good,” he said. “And we are going to find out how good it is over the next week or two.”
His comments have once again raised questions about the consistency of his foreign policy messaging, particularly with regard to China. Trump’s latest pivot comes against the backdrop of growing cooperation among Xi, Putin, and Kim — highlighted by their united front during the September 3rd parade commemorating China’s victory over Japanese forces in World War II.
Trump’s Frustration Over U.S. Omission
Trump also voiced frustration that President Xi’s speech at the parade did not mention the United States’ historical role in aiding China during WWII.
“I think we helped China very much when they talk about freedom, and I don’t believe that the U.S. was acknowledged for helping China to gain its freedom,” Trump said. “I think the U.S. should have been mentioned.”
Xi Jinping, in his address, described China as “unstoppable” and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peaceful development but made no direct reference to American support during the war.
Kremlin Responds to ‘Conspire’ Charge
Trump’s earlier accusation did not go unnoticed in Moscow. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov responded, saying, “We hope he was ironical,” and denied any plot against the U.S.
“No one has been conspiring, no one has been plotting anything,” Ushakov added. “Everyone understands the role played by the United States, the current administration of President Trump, and President Trump personally in the current international situation.”
The statement seemed aimed at de-escalating tensions while also acknowledging Trump’s unique approach to international diplomacy.
Political Fallout
Trump’s abrupt tone shift has fueled speculation about his diplomatic strategy. Critics argue the former president’s inconsistency on key international players undermines U.S. credibility, while his allies suggest the move reflects a calculated and flexible negotiating posture.
With the 2026 presidential election campaign in full swing, Trump’s approach to global alliances — and adversaries — is likely to remain a major talking point, both on the trail and in international capitals.
