FWICE Demands Diljit Dosanjh’s Removal from ‘Border 2’ Over Casting Row Involving Pakistani Actress

FWICE President BN Tiwari demands Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ makers adhere to Indian laws amid controversy

Mumbai:
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has raised strong objections to the casting of actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh in the upcoming film Border 2, following the controversy surrounding his involvement in the Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, which features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir.

📝 Letter Sent to Producers and Director

In an official letter addressed to Bhushan Kumar (Chairman and Managing Director, T-Series), producers JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta (JP Films), and director Anurag Singh, FWICE stated:

“FWICE, representing the core workforce of the Indian film and television industry, is deeply disappointed and concerned by the casting of Mr. Diljit Dosanjh in Border 2, produced by JP Films in collaboration with T-Series. This is a blatant violation of FWICE’s directive to boycott Mr. Dosanjh after his unpatriotic act of working with a Pakistani actress in Sardaar Ji 3.”

⚠️ Concerns Over National Sentiment

The letter expressed outrage over the casting decision, especially since Border 2 is a patriotic film that aims to honor Indian soldiers:

“It is deeply disturbing that a film like Border 2, which is supposed to celebrate the valor and sacrifice of Indian armed forces, has chosen to engage someone who recently prioritized personal gain over national sentiment. This undermines the collective stand of the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation.”

🎬 About ‘Border 2’

Border 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border. The film is set to star Varun Dhawan, Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. It is being directed by Anurag Singh and produced by T-Series and JP Films. It is slated for theatrical release on January 23, 2026.

🔥 Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy Adds Fuel

FWICE’s demand comes amid mounting backlash over Sardaar Ji 3, whose trailer featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir sparked criticism on social media. On June 23, FWICE also wrote to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) urging them to withhold certification for Sardaar Ji 3, citing its inclusion of Pakistani artists.

“FWICE has repeatedly made it clear—there will be no tolerance for any collaboration with Pakistani artists. Such actions are a disservice to the sacrifices made by Indian armed forces and civilians affected by terrorism,” the letter reads.

🇮🇳 ‘Nation Comes First,’ FWICE Asserts

The letter concludes with a strong message:

“We request you to immediately reconsider your casting decision. FWICE urges all stakeholders to prioritize national interest. For us, the nation comes first—and we expect the same from every respected member of the film fraternity.”

📌 Context:
This controversy unfolds against the backdrop of heightened Indo-Pak tensions, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack (April 22) and India’s subsequent Operation Sindoor (May 7) targeting terror camps across the border. Following the attacks, many Pakistani artists—including Hania Aamir—had their social media accounts restricted in India.
