Apple’s “Awe Dropping” Event Set for Sept 9; iPhone 17 Pro Expected to Cost More, Analysts Say
Apple is preparing to host its much-anticipated “Awe Dropping” launch event on September 9, where it’s expected to reveal the next-generation iPhone 17 series along with a range of other products. But just days ahead of the launch, new analyst projections suggest that U.S. buyers may face higher prices for some models — especially the Pro variant.
According to JP Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee, as reported by 9to5Mac and other outlets, the base iPhone 17 model is expected to start at $799, the same as the iPhone 16. The newly introduced iPhone 17 Air is expected to be priced between $899 and $949, slightly higher than the current iPhone 16 Plus.
However, the iPhone 17 Pro could see a notable price increase, potentially starting at $1,099, marking a $100 jump over the previous year’s model.
This pricing strategy reflects Apple’s efforts to differentiate its premium lineup, even as most models remain price-stable. The September 9 event is expected to draw global attention, with updates across hardware and possibly AI-driven features in the spotlight.
As excitement builds for Apple’s next big reveal, consumers and analysts alike will be watching closely — not just for new features, but also for how much more they’ll be expected to pay.
