Mumbai: Chief Operating Officer Anil Makhija of BookMyShow stated that the ticketing firm had bought 1.2 lakh Coldplay tickets to resell for the band’s January performance. The statement was made during his most recent seven-hour interrogation, according to a senior Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) officer.
Makhija has been requested to return today, October 3, for more interrogation along with the required paperwork and information pertaining to the current investigation, according to a police officer.
The organization is looking into the claims of fraud and is reselling the highly anticipated event tickets on the underground market. The investigator went on to say that these tickets had values ranging from Rs2,500 to Rs35,000 displayed on the BookMyShow app.
On the other hand, potential customers said that when they attempted to buy the tickets through the app, they were immediately sent to unaffiliated websites like Viagogo, where the identical tickets were being offered for exorbitant amounts.
In relation to the matter, Ashish Hemrajani, the CEO of BookMyShow, was called before the EOW twice. Makhija made an appearance before the agency on September 30 to be questioned. The goal of the investigation is to learn more about the unauthorized sales and ticket hoarding that many fans and the complainant have claimed occurred.
Furthermore, it’s possible that those who bought concert tickets will be called as witnesses in order to shed light on the circumstances and offer proof of the ticket purchase procedure.
