Mumbai:
Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, 89, was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Monday, prompting a wave of concern among fans and film fraternity members.

On Tuesday morning, his daughter Esha Deol reassured fans through a social media post, saying that the legendary actor is stable and recovering well. “Papa is doing better, and we are all by his side. Thank you for your prayers and love,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Family members including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Tanya Deol were seen arriving at the hospital on Monday evening. Later, Bollywood superstars Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha Patel also visited the hospital to check on Dharmendra’s health.

A representative from Sunny Deol’s team dismissed rumours that the Sholay star was on a ventilator.

“Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Please refrain from spreading false information. The family appreciates everyone’s prayers and requests privacy,” said the official statement.

Meanwhile, a film event scheduled for this week has been postponed following the actor’s hospitalisation.

Dharmendra, fondly known as the “He-Man of Bollywood”, has delivered unforgettable performances in classics such as Phool Aur Patthar, Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay, Pratiggya, Dharam Veer, and Yaadon Ki Baaraat.

Earlier this year, in April, Dharmendra paid his last respects to late actor Manoj Kumar, with whom he shared a deep bond. Speaking to media outside Manoj Kumar’s residence, he had said emotionally,

“Bohot si baatein hain… film industry mein hamara bachpan saath hi guzra hai.”

Fans have flooded social media with prayers and messages, wishing for the actor’s speedy recovery.
