Vasai Virar civic body conducts massive demolition drive in Arnal after CM Shinde orders action

A massive demolition drive was carried out in the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation area on Monday after Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ordered action against illegal resorts in Arnal following the death of a Shiv Sena leader’s son.

According to an official statement, a major crackdown was carried out against unauthorised resorts near Arnala beach. The action has been taken following Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s instructions to demolish all illegal resorts in the beach area.
The action comes in the wake of the death of former Shiv Sena district chief Raghunath More’s son and former city deputy chief and transport committee member Milind More yesterday. More had gone to a resort near Arnala beach with his family when a dispute with local residents turned into an attack.
A 45-year-old son of a Thane Shiv Sena (UBT) leader died of a heart attack during an argument with an autorickshaw driver at Vasai in Palghar district, prompting the police to register a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against an unidentified person.

Milind More, son of former Thane district chief of the undivided Shiv Sena Raghunath More, was at a resort in Navapur with his family when the incident took place late on Sunday evening, Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale said.

On his way out of the resort, he had an argument with a rickshaw puller during which he collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival and said he suffered a heart attack.

Based on the complaint, a case under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against an unidentified person, the DCP said.

After learning about the incident, CM Shinde visited More’s residence and offered condolences.

After CM Shinde came to know about the incident, he directed the Vasai-Virar Municipal Commissioner to take immediate action against all illegal resorts in the Arnala beach area and a massive demolition drive was launched following his order, the statement said.

“Parts of several unauthorised resorts have already been demolished by the municipal authorities.
