The Indian delegation at the Paralympic Games 2024 in Paris, France, had a record-breaking day as they raised their medal total to an unprecedented 20.

Ajeet Singh and Sundar Singh Gurjar, two javelin throwers, placed second and third in the men’s f46 event, while sprinter Deepthi Jeevanji won bronze in the women’s 400m T20 event. India began the day with 15 medals in total.

In the men’s t63 event, high jumpers Sharad Kumar and Maiyappan Thangavelu won the silver and bronze double.

Archer Pooja was eliminated in the quarterfinal of the women’s recurve event, while shooter Avani Lekhara, who was hoping to win a second medal at the quadrennial in Paris, had to settle for fifth place in the women’s 50m 3 position event.
