Protesters Swarm Badlapur Railway Station in Outrage Over Sexual Assault of 4-Year-Old Girls in School
Protesters swarm the Badlapur railway station in response to widespread indignation over the sexual molestation of 4-year-old girls in school.
A member of the housekeeping staff at a school is accused of sexually abusing two four-year-old girls last week. The demonstrators obstructed trains, claiming that police response was tardy.
Tuesday morning saw a disruption to Mumbai’s Central Line local train services as protesters flocked to the Badlapur railway station in large numbers, halting trains in protest over the purported sexual assault of two four-year-old schoolchildren by a cleaning staff member and the perceived “delay” in police action.
Local trains were halted at the Badlapur railway station, according to the Central Railway. “Due to protests over non-railway issues, the train movement is held up at the Badlapur railway station starting at 10.10 am,” CR officials stated.
According to CR officials, all train operations have been suspended in both directions. Five express trains have been rerouted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) via the Karjat-Panvel line.
